Outlook now supports the focused inbox (to deliver all important emails in one place, and puts non-urgent mails in the regular inbox), @mentions, Office 365 Groups (for Exchange accounts), Travel and delivery summary cards, delay or schedule delivery of emails using Send Later, templates for emails, & Read and delivery receipts. You may notice that the “Junk” option in Microsoft Outlook 2016 or 2013 is grayed out. When this is the case, you are not able to access the options to block email or access the Junk Email Options screen. The option is usually grayed out both on the Home tab and when you right-click on a message.
I absolutely love Focused Inbox on the Outlook APP on IOS and have been struggling to get that capability on the Desktop version of Outlook for Mac. Here is what I am using: Microsoft Outlook for Mac Version 16.15 License: Office 365 Subscription The Focused Inbox works for my O365 cloud account. However, it does not work for other IMAP accounts that I have.
That is not the case with the IOS App - Focused Inbox works for all IMAP accounts. I have read on this forum that Focused inbox is only available for O365 cloud e-mail accounts and not for other IMAP accounts, but have also read that it is in the roadmap to be made available for all e-mail accounts (much like in the IOS Outlook version). So here are my questions: 1. Is there an idea on when the Focused Inbox capability will be made available for other IMAP accounts for O365 Client for Mac? Is there another version of Outlook for Mac (perhaps, non-O365) that has that capability?
And if that capability is already available on Outlook for O365 on Mac, how can I configure that to work on my desktop version with configuration noted above. Any help will be sincerely appreciated.
Thanks in advance! Hi Steathford, Yes, focused inbox is not available for all IMAP accounts in Outlook for Mac. For now, we have not gotten any news about the release date of this feature. You may keep an eye on where the team always post the news at the first time about Outlook for Mac. Also, you are right, we may purchase perpetual Office or activate Office by Office 365 subscription license. Please note, most new released functions are only availble for Office 365 subscribers as one-time purchase (perpetual) Office app is not support for new functions release. But, we could not make it sure whether Focused Inbox would be released to all versions of Outlook.
You may focused on the blog to get more details in the future. Regards, Hans.
Ok - I tried to find a similar topic but I failed. If this is a duplicate feel free to call me out. Yesterday (finally) focused inbox showed up in my tenant. I have it disabled at the organization level but enabled for my mailbox. OWA instantly updated (in the middle of a live demo) to show that I had the new focused inbox.

The issue is that my Outlook 2016 client isn't seeing the view option to enable focused inbox. I'm on version 1702 (build 7870.2038) - First release for Current Channel. It updated yesterday morning and still nothing. I've rebuilt the profile in 2016, gone online rather than cached, reset views, etc. Nothing seems to be allowing me to turn it on within Outlook 2016. Has anybody ever seen this?
I'm not ready to turn it on for the organization so this is why I'm attempting to keep it local to me right now. Fixed the link. Not sure why it was acting strange, but I got the same error. If you want, you can go back to Clutter until we get it in Outlook 2016. See steps below: Steps to re-enable Clutter (for admin) As an Office 365 admin, you can re-enable Clutter using Exchange PowerShell. Once this is done, Focused Inbox will be turned off and Clutter will be active again.
Turn Clutter on using Exchange PowerShell You can enable Clutter manually for a mailbox by running the Set-Clutter cmdlet. You can also view Clutter settings for mailboxes in your organization by running the Get-Clutter cmdlet.

Example: Turn on Clutter for a single user named Allie Bellew: Set-Clutter -Identity “Allie Bellew” -Enable $true. Let me clarify that - i have 2 tenants, one was not enabled for modern auth. Had focused inbox for all accounts and shared mailboxes from one tenant but Outlook would not show the focused inbox for the mailboxes in the second tenant. I finally got around to enabling modern auth in that tenant today and now i have focused inbox in outlook for all accounts in my tenant. To check the settings, use Get-OrganizationConfig ft name,.OAuth.
to enable it, use Set-OrganizationConfig -OAuth2ClientProfileEnabled:$true. Allen, I looked at that post and posted there but thought I would here as well. We have modern authentication.
We are first release. We have focused inbox turned on in the tenant. We have the correct version or higher for Outlook 2016 for Windows and still no focused inbox. I used PowerShell to confirm it was on for my account. I see it in OWA and on wrote: Hey all - I just wrote up a new update for Focused Inbox roll-out.
It has lots of details about how this will show up in Outlook 2016 on Windows. Both of those websites tell about how Focused Inbox is being rolled out to tenants and what controls are in place. Mobile versions of Outlook had Focused Inbox since my company started using it over a year ago. If you were a Clutter user you might want to look at those articles closely, the fact Modern Authentication is being removed helped my test users. Those test users are running the Monthly Channel build of Office 2016 and just updated to the December 6 build. Just in case you need to reference build numbers.
I have a slightly different issue - I have 2 machines, both running Outlook 2016, both running 1708. I have Focused inbox showing on one machine (and have done for months) - but for the same tenant account on the 2nd machine, it does not show up. On the 2nd machine, I also have an account for a different tenant that does show Focused inbox.
For the main tenant, I also have Focused inbox on mobile working fine. Anyone got any thoughts on why this one machine won't show Focused inbox for a mailbox that clearly has it enabled? Hi, I had the same problem and had a CEO who was pretty angry about this. I finally managed to get support from Microsoft that sorted this out for me. This was the resolution (only on single user level): Well I can see that channel you are using is semi auto channel & latest channel has been updated now which is monthly channel.
So for this we need to switch semi auto channel into current channel. I am sharing one link for you reference how to switch from deferred channel to current channel. Here is the link- Once you visit the link, you need to follow some steps- 1. Download the suite from above link 2. Once it is downloaded, open Command Prompt as an administrator 3. Copy the script from above link & paste it in Command prompt 4.
Once it is done restart the Outlook, you will be able to see focused inbox in outlook & channel will be switched to Monthly channel.
